When the officers arrived, they were quickly met with violence. They were attacked with heavy fireworks and stones. Stones were also thrown at a moving police van, breaking several windows.
Several officers were injured due to the violence used against them. Some officers were unable to continue their duties. They have filed reports of violent crimes.
Arrests
The investigation was launched to identify those who used violence against the police. This has resulted in two arrests. The suspects are men aged 18 and 22 from Wassenaar and The Hague, respectively.
The investigation into other suspects continues unabated and more arrests are not ruled out. Thanks to cameras in the area, there is footage of the other suspects. Before this footage is shown, they will be given the opportunity to report themselves to the police.

Violence against police officers (GTPA)
The police find aggression and violence against their employees or other emergency workers unacceptable. Police officers have a responsible role in society and must be able to do their work without hindrance. With mutual respect. Aggression or violence, in any form, against employees is not tolerated. Police and justice apply the same approach here: reports are always recorded, perpetrators are prioritized by the Public Prosecution Service to be brought before the court, and perpetrators face triple the usual sentence.
