Her Majesty Queen Máxima will present the Apples of Orange 2025 on Thursday afternoon, October 9, at Palace Noordeinde. His Majesty the King and Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands will be present at the award ceremony. Every year, the Apples of Orange from the Orange Fund are awarded to three social initiatives in the Kingdom. The winners will be announced during the award ceremony.
This year, the theme of the Apples of Orange is: ‘Essential Links – the Power of Social Initiatives’. The awards are given to initiatives that contribute to a society where no one stands alone. The nominated organizations are important within a network of municipalities, care institutions, and volunteer organizations. They support vulnerable groups, provide them with the right support, and empower people. As a result, they are essential links in society.
The announcement of the winners will take place in the presence of representatives from the ten nominated initiatives. Queen Máxima will give a speech during the event and will present the Grand Apple and the other two Apples. The Apples of Orange are awarded for the 23rd time. In jubilee years, the King presents the awards, and in other years, Queen Máxima does. The award consists of a bronze statue designed by Princess Beatrix and a cash prize of 25,000 euros. King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima are the patrons of the Orange Fund.
