The Oranje Fonds was founded in 2002 when it was presented as a wedding gift from all Dutch people to the Prince of Orange and Princess Máxima. Since its inception, more than 250,000 initiatives have been supported with knowledge, advice, money, and a network of partners and volunteers. In addition to supporting social initiatives, the Oranje Fonds connects people through Burendag, Maatjes Gezocht, NLdoet, and Cariben doet. The Appeltjes van Oranje awards initiatives that ensure no one has to stand alone and everyone can participate. The Oranje Fonds also strengthens initiatives with various programs, including the Growth Program, Opportunities for Children, and Stronger Together Against Poverty.
