Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands attended the 60th anniversary of the Foundation for Riding for the Disabled (SPG) at the Madurodam Manege in The Hague on Saturday afternoon, July 5.
After the greeting and introduction of the horses, the Princess followed the jubilee program based on the theme circus, performed by the riders and volunteers. Components included a childrens riding lesson from the acrobats, groundwork by the clowns, and a vaulting lesson by the tigers.
The SPG was established in 1965 to make horseback riding possible for children and adults with disabilities on a therapeutic basis. In 1968, the Madurodam Manege was opened by Princess Beatrix, and to this day, riding lessons for children and adults with disabilities are offered.
