Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands attends a working symposium on Monday afternoon, January 19, 2026, at the Academiegebouw in Utrecht, organized by the interreligious network In Freedom Connected. The symposium focuses on young professionals who engage in dialogue based on their beliefs and deepen and enrich their own vision of religious encounters.

Princess Beatrix attends the lecture ‘The In-Between Space as a Basis for Interreligious and Interbelief Encounters in a Pluralistic and Secular Society’ by Prof. Dr. Birgit Meyer, professor of religious studies at Utrecht University. She then speaks with young professionals from belief organizations.

Over the past 20 years, the network has mainly focused on the boards of religious and belief organizations from Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and Humanism. From this year onward, the network focuses more on young professionals engaging in dialogue about interbelief encounters.

In Freedom Connected is a group of people coming together from various religions and beliefs, joining hands to present themselves jointly and advocate for good coexistence and democracy. The first meeting was organized on the occasion of Queen Beatrix’s twenty-fifth anniversary of reign in 2005. The municipality of Utrecht is co-host.
