Their Royal Highnesses Princess Beatrix, Prince Constantijn, and Princess Laurentien of the Netherlands will attend the opening on Wednesday evening, February 4, 2026, at Amare in The Hague of the twentieth anniversary edition of the Holland Dance Festival. The Netherlands Dance Theatre will provide the opening performance, featuring new work by choreographer Jan Martens as well as a presentation by Marcos Morau (Horses).

During the opening evening, the Jiří Kylián Ring will be awarded for the eleventh time. The distinction is intended for individuals who have made an important and inspiring contribution to the development of dance in the Netherlands. The performance will be accompanied live by The Ballet Orchestra.

With this anniversary edition, the Holland Dance Festival emphasizes the development of international dance art and the role of dance as a connecting factor between people and cultures. Since the festivals inception, more than 450 choreographers, 350 companies, and independent makers have participated in nearly 400 productions and approximately 1,700 performances over twenty editions. These collectively attracted more than one million visitors.

The twentieth anniversary edition takes place in five cities: The Hague, Delft, Rotterdam, Utrecht, and Tilburg. From February 4 to 21, performances and programs will be presented there, including world premieres, Dutch premieres, and productions by internationally leading makers.
