The Senates Committee on Justice and Security is organizing an expert meeting on Tuesday, March 11, in preparation for the debate on the State of the Rule of Law in June. The National Coordinator for Combating Antisemitism is one of the participants in this expert meeting and has prepared a position paper:
“Antisemitism poses a danger to the democratic rule of law. Hatred of Jews, like the proverbial canary in the coal mine, threatens the fundamental values of our free society. With the significant increase in antisemitism since October 7, 2023, the rule of law is facing several challenges. The Dutch government has a historical responsibility to protect the Jewish community and combat antisemitism. However, Dutch society is not sufficiently resilient everywhere.”

The committee wants to be informed about the sentiment in society regarding the rule of law and what signals are being picked up in this regard. The meeting will be held from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM and can be followed via a livestream.
