From September 15, Jewish schools, institutions, and organizations in the Netherlands can apply for a new safety fund. With the Safety Regulation for Jewish Institutions, the government provides support for the high costs of security measures necessary to ensure the safety of Jewish communities. This fund is an initiative of the cabinet, in collaboration with the National Coordinator for Combating Antisemitism.
The fund, part of the National Strategy for Combating Antisemitism 2024–2030, makes €1.3 million available annually. This can be used to finance security cameras, access control, security advice, and additional security personnel.
The regulation is intended to support Jewish schools, cultural institutions, religious communities, and event organizers with the structural and sometimes high costs they incur to protect their visitors, students, and members.
Organizations wishing to apply can submit their applications from September 15 to October 31. More information about conditions, criteria, and deadlines has been published in the Official Gazette. The explanation of the regulation also includes a link to the subsidy portal, where applications can be submitted from September 15.
