The KIC call Heterogeneous development solutions for semiconductors and scaling of quantum technologies is now open for applications. NWO and Holland High Tech invite researchers to form consortia to jointly submit research proposals on the topics of quantum technologies and/or semiconductor technologies.

Quantum and semiconductor technologies are essential key technologies within the National Technology Strategy of the Dutch government. To stimulate fundamental and applied research into these technologies, NWO and Holland High Tech have established this Call for proposals. Specifically, the call requests research into heterogeneous development solutions around chiplets, advanced packaging and the associated metrology and/or knowledge development in the field of new, robust production processes, manufacturability and scalability of quantum technologies.

This call concerns a collaboration between NWO and Holland High Tech, the TKI High Tech Systems and Materials (TKI-HTSM). TKI-HTSM stimulates public-private collaborations between teams of experts from industry, knowledge institutions and governments in the field of technological innovation in key technologies.

Budget and co-financing

NWO and Holland High Tech together make 11.85 million euros available for research proposals within this call for proposals. Half of this is reserved for proposals on the theme of semiconductors and the other half for quantum-related proposals.

It is mandatory to have two or more co-financiers participate in the project. The co-financiers must jointly contribute at least 20% of the total budget for the application. This can be in cash or in kind.

Matchmaking

On March 2, 2026, NWO and Holland High Tech are organizing a matchmaking meeting for this call. This meeting offers an opportunity for participants to exchange ideas, network and identify any missing expertise. The meeting also offers opportunities for further collaboration between the parties present. In addition, more information will be provided during the matchmaking about the application process and the Impact approaches.

These programs emphasize collaboration between knowledge institutions, private parties and government. The results contribute to realizing economic opportunities.
