A concerned mother reported her 15-year-old son missing in May 2024. He had left home due to an argument with her over his relationship with a 19-year-old woman. The police found the boy the same day. But this is just the beginning. Once at the station, he details two attempts he made to murder his father. His mother, a police officer, encouraged him to do so and told him how he could get away with it. The police begin an extensive investigation.

When the son fails to murder his father, he and his mother look for other perpetrators. Through the sons girlfriend, they contact two potential executors, who would be paid for the job. The fact that it does not remain just vague plans is evident from the fact that a tag is found under the fathers car and that a suitcase with cash in loose denominations is found with the mother. The police also find an extensive conversation on her phone with one of the potential executors, discussing the preparations to take the life of the ex of the former police officer. It also discusses the purchase of a weapon, and a photo of a weapon is shown. This weapon was ultimately also found.

The mother of the 19-year-old girlfriend was aware of all the plans early on. When the son is arrested, his girlfriend and her mother dispose of the weapon and a phone.

Initiating Role

All suspects have stated about the initiating role that the former officer had in the plan. She herself continues to deny it. According to her, the whole story was concocted by her son and his girlfriend because she disapproved of their relationship. The Public Prosecution Service does not assume this. She had active involvement in the purchase of the weapon, placing and purchasing tags, concealing evidence, and disseminating information about her ex-husband to the intended hitman.

The prosecutor: “A troubled and vulnerable son is used by his mother to solve her problem. The reason is his young age and the fact that juveniles receive lighter sentences. She knows this well because she was a police officer. ‘No evidence, no DNA, no weapon, no witnesses, no case,’ she texts, for example. This is the cunning way in which a police officer and a mother tries to get rid of her ex-husband. A police officer is expected to prevent such crimes, not initiate them.”

Family Torn Apart

In this case, the victim was confronted with concrete murder plans against him by his ex and his son. To this day, he is not doing well. The whole family is torn apart. The Public Prosecution Service believes that high sentences should be imposed against this. They see the ex-wife as the main initiator, which is why they demanded the highest sentence of 10 years against her.

Nine months of imprisonment has been demanded against the mother of the girlfriend, of which 3 are conditional with special conditions, for possession of a weapon. For the 19-year-old woman and one of the potential executors, ASR (juvenile criminal law) is recommended, and they are considered less accountable. This advice has been adopted. For them, 600 days (of which 150 conditional with special conditions) and 365 days (of which 207 conditional with special conditions) of juvenile detention has been demanded. For the other potential executor, 42 months of imprisonment has been demanded, of which 12 are conditional with special conditions. He is considered less accountable.

The son has since been convicted by the multiple juvenile court for complicity in inciting murder and preparatory acts of murder. The sentence is 174 days of juvenile detention, of which 150 days are conditional with the imposition of special conditions.
