Following a violent robbery at a mobile phone store on Overtoompassage on February 14, three suspects were presented to the examining magistrate today. They are two 14-year-old boys from Groningen and Delfzijl and a 17-year-old boy from Dordrecht. All three will remain in custody for an additional 14 days. In total, the police have arrested seven suspects. Four of them have already been presented earlier.
The robbery occurred on February 14 around 12:00 PM, during which the perpetrators threatened with a knife and stole multiple phones. After the robbery, the police immediately launched an investigation: they spoke with witnesses and reviewed CCTV footage. A knife was also seized that was found in the mobile phone store. Based on this information, a 15-year-old boy from Alblasserdam was arrested the next day. In the following days, more arrests followed. On February 16, a 15-year-old boy from Papendrecht was arrested, and on February 19, a 15-year-old boy from Alblasserdam was arrested. These three have since been released but remain suspects in the case.
The investigation later resulted in more arrests. On March 1, an 18-year-old boy from Papendrecht was arrested. He is still in custody. The investigation is still ongoing. More arrests are not ruled out.
