The detainee who was urgently taken from the detention complex on Beekstraat in Arnhem to the hospital on Sunday, June 8, has died on Wednesday evening, June 11. The man was likely given medication that was not intended for him. Despite resuscitation on-site and treatment in the hospital over the past days, the man passed away last night.
The National Criminal Investigation Department, led by the Public Prosecution Service (OM), is investigating what exactly happened and how it was possible for the detainee to receive medication that was not intended for him. During this investigation and in the interest of privacy, the OM and the National Criminal Investigation Department will not share further information.
