In a criminal investigation by HARP, Hit and Run Post Team, the police arrested a 45-year-old woman from Rijswijk on suspicion of violating the Opium Act. The woman is suspected of intentionally sending narcotics abroad.
On August 28, 2024, customs intercepted a package during a check at a postal center in The Hague. The package contained a can with a bag of approximately 60 grams of MDMA hidden inside. The drugs were on their way to New Zealand.
After the discovery, a criminal investigation was initiated under the direction of a public prosecutor in The Hague.
Multiple Packages
In the investigation by HARP, the suspect came to light. The woman had sent multiple packages containing narcotics over a period of seven months. Various types of hard drugs were found in the packages. The drugs were on their way to different countries, including Australia, Czech Republic, India, and Paraguay.
Research by HARP has led to the suspicion that all packages were sent by the same person, namely the arrested suspect. The woman is also suspected of possession of hard drugs. On the day of her arrest, a large quantity of at least more than 10 kilograms of various hard drugs was found in her home. The other resident of the home, a 40-year-old man from Rijswijk, was also arrested for possession of these hard drugs.
The two suspects were presented to the examining magistrate on Friday, May 2, who extended the pre-trial detention by fourteen days.
