On Tuesday morning, the system that allows lawyers to receive case documents digitally from the Public Prosecution Service will be available again. This means that documents to and from defendants lawyers no longer need to be sent by post.

It may take several weeks before all documents that have been shared by post in recent weeks can be found in a case in the Lawyers Portal. Read more about this on the information page for lawyers.

The availability of the Lawyers Portal is part of the phased return of the Public Prosecution Service online after the ICT breach and the disconnection from the internet on July 17.

Along with the availability of the Lawyers Portal, the system for sending documents digitally to the Judiciary will also be back online. Earlier, external emailing and the Victim Portal, where victims can find information about their case, became available again. Various portals for exchanging information digitally with the police have gone live in recent weeks. For example, the Digital Process File, which allows the police to share reports and evidence with the Public Prosecution Service, and the File Transfer Box, which allows (large) files to be shared.

The Public Prosecution Service will continue to work on the controlled further startup of the digital systems in the coming period. This is done in close coordination with the involved chain partners, who have done everything together with the Public Prosecution Service to ensure the continuation of the criminal process. It is still uncertain how long it will take for all systems to function fully again. Until then, emergency work processes will remain in effect where necessary.
