On Bezuidenhoutseweg – near Reigersbergenweg in The Hague – a serious traffic accident occurred on the morning of Thursday, December 4. Three people died and one person was injured in the accident. The accident was preceded by a short police pursuit. The Rijksrecherche is investigating.

At around 04:40, the police wanted to stop a vehicle due to suspicious driving behavior. The officer gave a stop signal, which was ignored. The vehicle then fled, leading to a short pursuit. On Bezuidenhoutseweg, the driver lost control of the vehicle, which came to a stop against a tree and then caught fire. One occupant was removed from the vehicle and taken to the hospital with injuries. Three occupants died.

Investigation by Rijksrecherche

An investigation was immediately started at the accident site. Because the accident was preceded by a short pursuit, the Rijksrecherche was notified. They will investigate the incident.

The Rijksrecherche is an independent agency that investigates police conduct under the leadership of the Public Prosecution Service. This always happens when someone is seriously injured or dies during police action.
