On Tuesday, October 21, Customs found 201 kilos of cocaine in Rotterdam in a container with barrels of fruit juice originating from Mexico.
Employees of a cold storage company in Rotterdam found black sports bags on top of the regular cargo after opening a container. The company therefore contacted Customs, who took the container for investigation. In six black sports bags, Customs found 201 kilos of cocaine.
The Rotterdam company has nothing to do with the smuggling. It is suspected that the six sports bags should have been removed from the container en route before the container arrived at the Rotterdam company.
HARC team
The HARC team, a cooperation of Customs, FIOD, Port Police and the Public Prosecution Service in Rotterdam that has existed for 29 years, is further investigating the case. The drugs have since been destroyed.
