On Sunday, February 1, 2026, during a customs inspection, a shipment of cocaine was discovered in a refrigerated container with mangoes. The container originated from Peru and came via Panama to Rotterdam.
The container with mangoes was on its way to a company in Moerdijk and then to be transported to the final destination in Germany. During the inspection, customs officers found 14 bales behind the container doors. These bales contained a total of 463 packages of cocaine. The companies from Moerdijk and Germany appear to have no involvement in the smuggling.
The HARC team, a cooperation of Customs, FIOD, Port Police and the Public Prosecution Service in Rotterdam that has existed for 30 years, is further investigating the case.
The drugs have now been destroyed.
