On Friday, August 8, 2025, Customs discovered a shipment of 1200 kilograms of cocaine among a shipment of bananas from Colombia.
Following this discovery, the Zeeland-West-Brabant port police initiated a further investigation, which led to the arrest of a 43-year-old resident of Amsterdam on Tuesday, August 12, 2025. The arrest was carried out by an arrest team.
During the arrest, the suspect was found to have €19,000 in cash. The money was seized along with a company vehicle. The suspects home was searched under the direction of a investigating judge, and digital data carriers and a kilogram of cannabis were seized. Furthermore, the investigation team searched two business premises later that day.
The suspect is detained for further investigation and will be presented to the investigating judge later this week. The narcotics have been removed and are now destroyed by the Customs Special Assistance Team (TBB).
