In an ongoing investigation, police found an exceptionally large amount of cocaine in a residence in Zaandam on Tuesday evening. Two men have been arrested.
Earlier that day, police observed a large number of cardboard boxes being brought into the residence. Suspecting drugs and considering the possible presence of firearms, the Special Intervention Service (DSI) raided the residence. The 44-year-old resident was arrested. Later in the evening, a 44-year-old man from Amsterdam was also arrested for possible involvement in the case.
Exceptional Quantity
More than 700 kilos of cocaine were found in the residence. It is rare for such a large amount of cocaine to be discovered in a home. The National Detection and Intervention Unit is conducting further investigations into the drugs and the involvement of the arrested suspects. Additional arrests are not excluded.
The suspects are in full custody and will be presented to the examining magistrate on Friday.
