The Public Prosecution Service demands a 24-month prison sentence, of which 4 months are conditional, against a 30-year-old man from The Hague who is suspected of sending 1.8 kilograms of hard drugs by post to abroad. The man was arrested in an investigation by the HARP, Hit and Run Postteam.
The man allegedly hid the drugs in a pouf. The package containing the pouf was delivered to a tobacco shop in The Hague on November 19, 2024. Because the suspect did not immediately pay the shipping costs, he returned the next day to do so, after which the package was sent.
Intercepted
On November 25, 2024, the package, which was on its way to the United States, was intercepted by Customs. The pouf contained 1.8 kilograms of MDMA hidden inside. The suspect was recognized on camera footage and arrested on February 3, 2025.
The suspect is the one who offered the package for shipment. And those who offer packages for shipment are expected to be aware of what is in those packages, said the public prosecutor.
The court will issue a ruling in two weeks.
HARP
The HARP is a collaboration between the police, Customs, and the Public Prosecution Service. The team is engaged in tracking down and prosecuting criminals who send drugs by post to abroad.
