“An act of pure intimidation,” describes the public prosecutor the shooting at a house in Alphen aan den Rijn last October. Three suspects are in court today for complicity in threats, vandalism, and possession of a firearm. The Public Prosecution Service demanded prison sentences ranging from 30 to 48 months, part of which is conditional.
On October 10, 2024, Alphen aan den Rijn was confronted with extreme violence in broad daylight. A man with an automatic firearm was shooting at a house on Prins Hendrikstraat. People on the street ran away or hid behind cars in the street.
“The shooting at his house clearly contains a warning or signal, but it is also life-threatening and leaves deep scars, not only for those directly involved but also for the neighborhood,” said the public prosecutor.
“What stands out from this larger investigation is that extreme violence is not shunned and that it is very easy to recruit executors who carry out the various attacks. This is concerning.”
1400 kilos of coke
The shooting incident in Alphen aan den Rijn is all related to a shipment of 1400 kilos of cocaine that was stolen by criminals from Belgium. That shipment was divided, and part of it ended up in October in a warehouse of an Alphen entrepreneur. Stored in boxes as if they were bottles of liquor. Shortly thereafter, the drugs were stolen again, but now from the warehouse in Alphen. This is when the violence in the Alphen region begins, which is also partly directed against the Alphen entrepreneur, as well as the shooting at the house on October 10, 2024.
Executor
The Public Prosecution Service sees the 23-year-old man from Almere as the executor. He is the one who shot with the automatic firearm on the street. Via Snapchat, he was directed by a contact. This contact allegedly told the suspect where he could get the weapon and at which address to shoot. He is also incited by messages like “listen you have to have balls, you know in the afternoon with Kalsj blowing is not nothing.” The Public Prosecution Service demands a prison sentence of 40 months for this suspect, of which 12 are conditional.
Driver and filmer
The 25-year-old man from Denekamp, who was arrested on the same day as the man from Almere, is also seen as an accomplice. He was the driver that day and filmed the attack. He allegedly did this at the request of the broker. In his phone, among other things, the address of the target was found, as well as a request to one of the suspects “for a quick job” that had to take place on October 10, 2024. The Public Prosecution Service demands a prison sentence of 48 months for this suspect, of which 12 are conditional. The sentence is somewhat higher than that of the previously mentioned executor because there was also a drug offense in the indictment.
Intermediary
Finally, an intermediary stood before the judge. He arranged the driver for the “quick job.” The Public Prosecution Service considers this suspect complicit and demands a prison sentence of 30 months for this suspect, of which 10 are conditional.
