The Public Prosecution Service (OM) has been authorized by the court to detain the man for a year to compel him to pay a previously imposed forfeiture order in full.
The arrest was made by the special police team FASTNL.
Of the 24 million euros forfeiture order, approximately 15 million euros remains unpaid. Despite significant efforts by the Central Judicial Collection Agency (CJIB), the owed amount has not yet been settled.
The Amsterdam court ruled in 2024 that the convicted was not unable, but unwilling, to pay the forfeiture order in a reasonable timeframe. The court stated it was up to the convicted individual to resolve the stalemate. The detention may contribute to that.
