The Public Prosecution Service is prosecuting a 51-year-old man from Doetinchem – formerly an employee of the PPS – for possession of child pornography. The man also possessed a quantity of hard drugs. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 10.

The man was arrested in October 2024 following a tip about possession and distribution of hard drugs. Data carriers were seized during his arrest. Investigation of these data carriers revealed that the man possessed a significant amount of child pornography, namely over 46,000 images and more than 450 videos. By sharing part of the child pornography with others, he is also guilty of distribution.

In addition to possession and distribution of child pornography, the man is suspected of possessing hard drugs, specifically 150 milliliters of GHB.

The suspect was not a public prosecutor but held another position within the Public Prosecution Service. He has since been dismissed. The man worked for the East Netherlands district office, so the criminal investigation was conducted in another jurisdiction. On April 10 at 13:30, he must appear before the court in The Hague.
