In an investigation by the National Detective Service, a court employee from Amsterdam was arrested on Monday. She is suspected of breaching her confidentiality obligations and computer intrusion.
The 33-year-old woman from Woerden is suspected of having provided personal data from the automated systems of the court to criminals for payment. The woman came to the attention of authorities when, in August 2024, an envelope with the logo of the Amsterdam court was found behind the lining of a couch during another criminal investigation. The envelope contained the complete personal data of six individuals from the municipal basic registration (GBA).
Criminal Environment
The envelope with personal data was made available to the National Detective Service. The investigation led to the court employee. The woman is suspected of having requested information from the court systems for an extended period leading up to her arrest and providing it for payment to contacts in the criminal environment.
During her arrest, several dozen printouts from the court containing information about individuals were seized. The woman was presented to a judge-commissioner at the court in Zwolle by a public prosecutor from the National Public Prosecutors Office on Thursday. She has been remanded in custody for two weeks.
