Today, a 30-year-old man from Monnickendam appeared in court for having, producing, and distributing child pornography, sexually enticing a minor via Snapchat, and sexually penetrating two minors. The public prosecutor demanded a prison sentence of 40 months, of which 15 months are conditional.
“Cunning Man”
“He is a cunning man who knows how to find and entice vulnerable minor girls flawlessly,” said the public prosecutor. “In 2022, the suspect was already in the spotlight of the Public Prosecution Service for sending dick pics to a minor girl. Despite treatment, the suspect reoffended. Even after his suspension for the offenses for which he is now on trial, he reoffended again. We see a clear pattern here and consider the risk of reoffending high. It is of utmost importance that a verdict is reached that provides tools to ensure that this suspect does not create more victims in the future.”
Approaching Victims via Snapchat
Research has shown that the modus operandi of this suspect is always the same. The public prosecutor says about this: “He seeks contact with minor girls between the ages of 12 and 16, mainly via Snapchat. He presents himself as younger than his actual age and repeatedly asks for nude photos and/or nude videos in exchange for money. This also happened with the then 14-year-old victim whom he enticed to do this between 2021 and 2023. But it goes further than just asking for nude photos. With another minor victim, he arranged to meet. He had sex with her, filmed it, and distributed it. The victim continues to suffer from this to this day, as this has ended up on the internet and continues to circulate in her hometown.”
Suspect Chose Vulnerable Girls
Three victims have filed charges against the suspect. Investigations of the data carriers show that more girls have become victims. Not only is a pattern visible in his methods, but also in the type of victim he approaches. “It is always about very vulnerable young girls. He selects his victims based on that.”
Sentence Request
The Public Prosecution Service considers the risk of reoffending high. The public prosecutor therefore demands
a prison sentence of 40 months, of which 15 months are conditional, with a probation period of 5 years, and with the conditions as advised by the Probation Service, such as a contact ban with the victims, no contact with minors, and undergoing day treatment in a care institution. The suspect must also pay the victims compensation.
The court will rule in two weeks.
