On the fateful day, the victim had a meeting with the 25-year-old suspect. They had agreed to meet at a parking lot at Vikingpad in Amsterdam-North. The victim went to the meeting with a friend. What seemed like an innocent meeting ended in a shooting where the victim was hit in the leg and suffered an arterial hemorrhage. He succumbed shortly after in the hospital to his injuries.
According to the Public Prosecution Service, extensive police investigations, supported by video footage, phone data, and witness statements, indicate that there was a premeditated plan. The 27-year-old suspect, who initially hid during the meeting, is believed to be the one who fired the shot, as evidenced by gunshot residue found on his clothing and the statement of a witness who accompanied the victim to the meeting.
The motive behind this murder has remained unclear to this day. Both suspects largely invoke their right to remain silent. This lack of explanation severely hinders the processing for the surviving relatives, the prosecution stated.
