On July 10, 2023, in broad daylight, a deadly shooting took place on Heezerweg in Eindhoven. Residents called emergency services while the suspects fled the scene. The victim died on the spot from his injuries. The 27-year-old and 31-year-old men believed responsible appeared in court today. The Public Prosecution Service (OM) demands prison sentences of 16 and 14 years against them.

Soon after the incident, the police tracked down the two suspects. Evidence such as intercepted communications, forensic research, and witness statements linked the two to the deadly shooting. However, it remains unclear who pulled the trigger and is responsible for the fatal shot.

Drill rap

It is beyond doubt that the firearm used to kill the victim was in the presence of both suspects on and around July 10. It was reportedly in the possession of the 27-year-old suspect for months, but three days before the incident, the 31-year-old suspect appeared with the firearm in a so-called drill rap video. The police recognized the firearm in the video by its unique serial number. During interrogations, the suspects pointed fingers at each other when asked who possessed the weapon and who ultimately fired the shot.

Joint liability

According to the Public Prosecution Service, it is particularly disappointing that it cannot be determined who caused the victims death. What the OM can establish, however, is that both suspects are guilty of jointly committing the deadly shooting. The incident on July 10 was not isolated; it was the culmination of a series of criminal activities by the two suspects. Not only did they steal a car shortly before, but they also planned together to take a batch of weed from the victim on July 10. What exactly happened on the spot remains unclear. But that both suspects are responsible for the victims death is beyond doubt according to the OM.

The public prosecutor: The victims relatives suffer not only great sorrow but also anger. The man was shot in the back and was unarmed. The way the victim was robbed of his life, cowardly and merciless, makes his death unbearable for them.
