The prosecutor today demanded a prison sentence of thirty months, six months of which is conditional, against a 24-year-old man from Amsterdam on suspicion of inciting attempted aggravated assault with premeditation. The man is suspected of having arranged for underage boys to assault a 42-year-old woman in Amsterdam on September 2, 2024.
On that Monday morning in September 2024, the woman had just placed her 4-year-old son in the car when she was suddenly attacked from behind, pulled to the ground, and kicked in the head and body. It later became clear that those who assaulted her were two underage boys. One of them had filmed the assault.
Intermediary
The man who is on trial today is suspected of having arranged the underage perpetrators of the assault. He allegedly contacted them via Snapchat and subsequently instructed them on how to carry out the assault, promised them money, and asked them to film the assault as evidence. The prosecutor referred to violence on demand in her indictment. The man admitted to acting as an intermediary and arranging the underage perpetrators.
The defendant does not want to provide any details. The prosecutor stated in her indictment: “He reveals nothing about his client and provides no leads whatsoever. This means that the victim continues to live in uncertainty and fear now that it is completely unclear what the reason for this violence is and who it comes from. This completely inexplicable violent attack in the street, in a quiet residential area, on a woman who wants to take her young child to school, causes feelings of fear, unrest, and insecurity not only for the victim but also for society.”
The prosecutor demanded a prison sentence of thirty months, six months of which is conditional, with a probation period of two years on suspicion of inciting attempted aggravated assault with premeditation.
The four minors suspected of carrying out the assault will have to answer to the juvenile court at a later date.
