The reward for the golden tip that led to the arrest of the man suspected of three fatal shooting incidents in IJsselmonde will be partially awarded. This has been decided by the chief public prosecutor of the Rotterdam district court. In the case against the 24-year-old suspect, the first pro forma hearing took place on Friday, April 4.
On January 2 of this year, the Public Prosecution Service announced a reward of €30,000 for the golden tip that led to the shooter of the committed crimes in IJsselmonde. During the first hearing, the public prosecutor announced that part of that reward will be awarded to a tipster. Who will receive the amount and how much money it involves remains confidential due to privacy.
Known
The suspect has confessed to the police that he is the shooter of the fatal shooting incidents, in which three men aged 63, 58, and 81 lost their lives. Nothing can yet be said about the motive of the suspect. He will be examined at the Pieter Baan Centre. The admission still needs to take place and will not be before mid-June.
Tip pays off
This is the third time in a short period that the Public Prosecution Service in Rotterdam awards a reward for the golden tip in a criminal investigation. In March 2023, €30,000 was awarded to tipsters who ensured that a suspect of murder on his mother-in-law and attempted murder on his ex-partner in Zwijndrecht could be arrested. And in January 2024, the Public Prosecution Service awarded €25,000 to tipsters in the case where a man is suspected of killing a 60-year-old Rotterdammer, arson in the victims home at Handelsplein, and assaulting a man in Zutphen.
This proves once again that giving a golden tip does indeed pay off. The police and the Public Prosecution Service express their gratitude to the individuals who provided the tips.
