A female student was pulled into the bushes on May 7 this year on the TU campus in Eindhoven by a 43-year-old man. He is suspected of attempted rape and appeared in court today. The Public Prosecution Service demands 4 years unconditional imprisonment.

Witnesses heard shouting shortly after 7:00 PM. They then saw a man pulling a girl to the ground and leaning over her. When witnesses asked if everything was okay, the girl managed to get away. Based on witness information, the suspect was caught red-handed by the police shortly after. At the scene, a shopper bag was also found containing beer, lubricant, a vibrator, duct tape, and rope.

 

Blood

The police found the girl crying with twigs in her hair. She stated that the man had hit her, pushed her to the ground, and put his tongue in her mouth. She had injuries in her mouth, from which blood was coming. The man repeatedly said sorry but refused to make further statements to the police. In court, he admitted that he wanted to rape the woman and that he intended to use the items in the shopper.

Insecurity

The public prosecutor: This incident occurred early in the evening on a university campus. An environment that should be safe for the victim. Earlier that day, another woman was also harassed. Fellow students witnessed the incident. Such acts cause unrest and a feeling of insecurity.

Demand: 4 years imprisonment

Based on the investigation, the Public Prosecution Service believes the man has no respect for the physical integrity of women. The suspect crossed all boundaries, and the consequences for the victim are significant. Considering all facts and circumstances, the Public Prosecution Service demands four years unconditional imprisonment in this case. The judge will rule in two weeks.
