This morning, the Amsterdam GVB announced in a press release that there is still footage available from the metro stations in early November 2024 around the match Ajax – Maccabi Tel Aviv. Previously, GVB had reported that this footage was no longer available. This may have implications for incidents reported at the metro stations.
GVB recently discovered that the old recorders, which were regularly replaced in early November, had not yet been destroyed and still contained footage from the metro stations. The recorders were still with the maintenance provider in secure storage. Specialists from the maintenance provider have ultimately made it technically possible to retrieve the footage.
This concerns footage from metro stations and NOT footage from the metro trains.
The police have seized the footage and GVB has handed it over to the police. The police will now study the newly available footage. This may have implications for incidents reported at the metro stations.
