Customs intercepted 206 kilos of cocaine during a routine check on Wednesday, May 22, in the Rotterdam port. The drugs were hidden in a container with cassava and have a wholesale value of over 5 million euros.

The container with cassava originated from Panama and was unloaded at a company in Westland. This company has nothing to do with the smuggling of the narcotics. The cassava was destined for a company in Portugal.

HARC Team

The HARC team, a collaboration of Customs, FIOD, Port Police, and the Public Prosecution Service in Rotterdam, is further investigating the case.

The drugs have since been destroyed.
