An 18-year-old suspect from Eindhoven appeared today before the juvenile judge for shooting at a house in Alphen aan den Rijn last October. The then 17-year-old boy was recruited to do this, without knowing why. In the background, a major criminal conflict over 1400 kilos of cocaine was playing out.
The cocaine was stolen by criminals in August 2024, and part of the batch ended up in the warehouse of an Alphen entrepreneur. An employee accidentally saw that cocaine had been stored and was ordered to keep quiet about it. Shortly thereafter, when the drugs were stolen from the warehouse, the blame was placed on the employee, and he was threatened, even though he had nothing to do with it.
A series of incidents followed, including a shooting on the evening of October 12 at the employees house with a firearm. The suspect who stood trial today admits that he pulled the trigger. He wanted to make quick money to pay off debts and now realizes how foolish he was to accept this assignment. He has been under suspension of his pre-trial detention for almost a year, under strict conditions to keep him in line.
Previous Cases
Previously, three adult suspects had already appeared before the court: a broker and a driver. They were both sentenced to 30 months in prison. An accomplice was acquitted by the judge.
The public prosecutor demanded a prison sentence of 180 days against the 18-year-old suspect, of which 134 days are conditional and a community service of 60 hours. The court will deliver its verdict in two weeks.
