The Public Prosecution Service today demanded TBS with conditions against a 33-year-old man from Leimuiden who is suspected of stabbing his wife in September last year. The 31-year-old woman, who was seriously injured and taken to the hospital, died a day later from her injuries.
In the early morning of September 2, 2024, things went terribly wrong in a house on Griede in Leimuiden, where the suspect lived with the victim and their three young children. After the children were taken to school and daycare that morning, their mother was stabbed by their father. The woman was seriously injured but managed to leave the house and call for help. She was taken to the hospital but died a day later from her injuries.
The man was arrested in the house. He had stabbed himself with a knife and was transferred to prison after treatment in the hospital.
Psychosis
According to the Public Prosecution Service, it is certain that the suspect stabbed his wife. The suspect confessed almost immediately. An investigation into the suspects mental faculties was conducted, and according to experts, the suspect was in a psychosis at the time of the stabbing and acted entirely under a delusion. “His perception of reality would have been completely influenced by the manic-psychotic episode,” the experts said. The Public Prosecution Service agrees with the experts that the suspect should be declared completely unaccountable. This means that the Public Prosecution Service cannot demand a punishment against him.
Demand
Therefore, the Public Prosecution Service requested the court to dismiss the prosecution and demanded the measure of TBS with conditions. One of the conditions is that the suspect is placed in a forensic clinic following his detention.
The court will rule in two weeks.
