In the undermining investigation named Acropolis, which focuses on BTZ bv based in the port of Vlissingen, an arrest has taken place in Lithuania.
The arrest was made based on a European Arrest Warrant (EAW).
The suspect is a 55-year-old man. He is suspected of money laundering and was presented to the examining magistrate on Friday, May 2. The mans pre-trial detention was extended by 30 days on Thursday by the chamber of the Zeeland-West Brabant court.
In May last year, the management of BTZ was arrested on suspicion of large-scale cocaine trafficking from South America. These three men are still suspects but are awaiting their trial in freedom.
The Public Prosecution Service will make no further statements regarding the progress of the investigation and the arrest of the 55-year-old suspect.
