A 22-year-old man from The Hague who is in custody for involvement in a deadly shooting in The Hague will remain in pre-trial detention for a longer period. This was decided by the council chamber of the court today. A second suspect who has emerged in the investigation has likely fled abroad.
On Friday evening, April 18, around 7:50 PM, a 21-year-old man from The Hague was shot at the corner of Paets van Troostwijkstraat and Oudemansstraat. It is believed to have been a rip deal, during which the victim was robbed. Shortly thereafter, the victim died in the hospital from his injuries.
A Large-scale Investigation Team from the police, led by a public prosecutor, is investigating the case. On Sunday, April 20, a suspect was arrested and a black Citroën C1 was seized, which was used as a getaway car. The suspect was brought today by the Public Prosecution Service before the council chamber of the court. The court has extended his pre-trial detention by 90 days. He is suspected of complicity in qualified manslaughter.
In the investigation, a second suspect has come into view. He is likely residing abroad, outside the European Union. He is internationally wanted. In the interest of the investigation, the Public Prosecution Service cannot share more information about this suspect or other investigative results at this time.
