On August 8, 2025, a suspect in a Dutch criminal investigation was extradited to the Netherlands from the United Arab Emirates.
The suspect is a 30-year-old man with Dutch nationality. He had not been residing in the Netherlands for a long time and was therefore internationally wanted. Following the international alert, he was recently arrested in the United Arab Emirates.
The suspect has come to attention in an investigation into drug trafficking by the police and Public Prosecution Service Limburg. He is suspected of trafficking cocaine based on chat messages conducted via EncroChat, totaling 87 kg of cocaine for which over 2 million was paid in a period of just a few weeks.
The suspect was presented to the examining magistrate on Monday, August 11, and was placed in custody for 14 days.
