The Public Prosecution Service demands community service sentences against three men suspected of group defamation and inciting discrimination. The men allegedly projected a discriminatory text on a building along the A12.

On September 1, 2023, the suspects were arrested after a report was received by the police that a projection was visible on a building along the A12 near Bodegraven. In green letters, the text read: RACEMIXING = GENOCIDE MAKE A WHITE BABY, TONIGHT :) RACEMIXING = GENOCIDE MAKE WHITE BABIES :) RACE MIXING = WHITE GENOCIDE.

The suspects were apprehended in the vicinity of the building. In the car, officers found, in addition to a walkie-talkie, papers that stated laser action checklist. The papers described precisely how to carry out such a laser action. Tips were also provided for the action day itself, namely: remove incriminating material from mobile phones and/or computers and ensure that no physical incriminating materials can be found in your home.

Criminal group defamation and inciting discrimination

The three suspects admit to projecting this text but believe that the text is not criminal. According to the Public Prosecution Service, there is indeed a case of criminal group defamation and inciting discrimination. Because this text suggests that people with white skin color should reproduce with people of a similar skin color. And if white people do not do this, according to the suspects, it is called race mixing, which the suspects equate with genocide. This portrays people of color as a threat to people with white skin color and suggests that it is undesirable for a white person to reproduce with people of color, which is offensive.

The suspects have made very hurtful statements, and by projecting this text, a group of people is deeply insulted, namely because of their origin. There is no place for such expressions in our society, where equality is one of our core values, said the Public Prosecution Service.

The Public Prosecution Service demands community service sentences for the suspects who committed these acts together, with a duration of 100 hours, of which 30 hours are conditional with a probation period of 2 years. For the third suspect, who the Public Prosecution Service claims was complicit in these acts, a community service sentence of 80 hours, of which 30 hours are conditional with a probation period of 2 years, has been demanded.
