The council chamber of the court in Breda has decided that a 23-year-old man from Vlissingen will remain in pretrial detention longer. The pretrial detention has been extended by 90 days, in accordance with the request of the Public Prosecution Service.
The man is suspected of having shot a 44-year-old local resident in a supermarket in Vlissingen on Sunday, June 22, in broad daylight and in the presence of customers and store staff. The victim died on the spot from his injuries.
Shortly after the incident, the 23-year-old man was arrested. During the arrest, the police also found a firearm. The Public Prosecution Service suspects him of murder or manslaughter.
