Today, the examining magistrate suspended the pre-trial detention of a 22-year-old man from the municipality of Horst aan de Maas who is suspected, among other things, of possessing illegal fireworks, explosives, and weapons. The Public Prosecution Service Limburg still considers him a suspect, but he has been released. This is under certain conditions, including that he undergoes treatment and supervision by probation services.

Raid

On the evening of Monday, December 29, a search was conducted in a house following a report of illegal fireworks possession. During this search, two people were arrested, including the suspect. The second person was released immediately after questioning. The police found illegal fireworks, weapons, and materials to manufacture fireworks and explosives in the house.

Due to the seriousness of the findings, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service Defence (EOD) was called in and the house was evacuated. As a precaution, the immediate area was cordoned off and residents were asked to avoid the area.

Investigation

Since the 22-year-old is still a suspect, the investigation continues unabated. Further information cannot be shared at this stage.
