The 40-year-old financial service provider/mortgage broker from Beek, who was arrested on August 26 on suspicion of involvement in mortgage fraud/scams and attempted money laundering, will remain in custody longer. His pre-trial detention has been extended by 14 days.

The man came to light in an ongoing investigation into cocaine smuggling in which a Limburg transport company played an important role. In this investigation, there were suspicions that the owner of this transport company also set up fictitious employment relationships at request. With false information, mortgage loans could be applied for. The suspect is seen as a key figure in this.

In addition to involvement in mortgage fraud, he is also suspected of attempted money laundering, coercion, and fraud. He is believed to have been involved in securing assets for a previously arrested suspect from Meers in the same drug investigation.
