A 30-year-old man with Bosnian and Dutch nationality has been extradited from the United Arab Emirates to the Netherlands. Under escort by the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, he arrived at Schiphol on Thursday and was arrested.
Since 2023, an extradition treaty has been in effect between the Netherlands and the UAE.
The man is a suspect for the Public Prosecution Service in a case involving money laundering of drug profits through an art gallery in Breda. He is also suspected of criminal offenses in Belgium.
Belgian authorities have meanwhile issued a European Arrest Warrant (EAW) to the Netherlands, which will be handled next week by the court in Amsterdam.
