On November 26 and 27, 2022, two young women (then minors) reported to the police about rape committed by a then 43-year-old man from Haarlem on the night of November 24 to 25, 2022, in Haarlem. The first report was dismissed by the Public Prosecution Service in 2023 due to insufficient legal and convincing evidence. It was then announced that the suspect would still be prosecuted for seduction of the second complainant. Additional investigation then took place.
Unable to establish that seduction occurred
In the case of the second report, after additional investigation, the Public Prosecution Service was unable to establish the factual dominance required for seduction. This conclusion led the Public Prosecution Service to decide to dismiss the case against the suspect on August 26, due to insufficient legal and convincing evidence.
