In February 2023, the police conducted raids in various locations in Zeeland and West Brabant during a national action day. In a large investigation into the production and trade of multiple types of drugs and money laundering, a total of 12 suspects were arrested. This was the result of an investigation initiated after specialists from the (then) National Unit dismantled the cryptocommunication service Exclu.

Fled for Nothing

The main suspect escaped capture because he was abroad at that time. His son, who was eventually released while awaiting trial, did not wait for the courts verdict and fled abroad. He was present at the trial where a lengthy prison sentence was demanded against him. The other suspects in the investigation were sentenced to long prison terms. One suspect in this investigation is still at large. He has never been apprehended.

But criminals are also being searched for abroad, and this is how the duo could be tracked down. Father and son will be extradited to the Dutch authorities.
