On Thursday evening, following a report, officers went to Gemaalstraat in Aalsmeer. In a house, they found substances suspected to be explosive material. A 39-year-old man from Aalsmeer was arrested. The house and two other houses were evacuated as a precaution pending the arrival of specialists from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service (EOD). After investigation by the EOD, the substances were identified as raw materials for making heavy fireworks. These were subsequently secured. After the investigation, residents were allowed to return to their homes. Various items were seized from the house that may be important for the investigation.
