Police fires warning shot during arrest, firearm found in water

On Monday morning, December 22, the police arrested a 25-year-old man suspected of firearm possession. During the arrest, an officer fired a warning shot. Later that day, a police diving team found a firearm in the water. The police are conducting further investigations.
Patrolling officers found it striking that the man was standing on a grassy field at Watermolenberg around 5:30 AM. When the man saw the officers, he immediately walked away. The officers followed him and saw he was holding something in his hand that looked like a firearm. The man ran into a park, and an officer fired a warning shot to make him stop. The suspect was arrested. At that moment, he did not have a weapon on him. A police dog searched the area without success for a weapon. Later that day, a police diving team found a firearm.
