Recently, there have been several incidents in the city center, including a stabbing incident on Monday, May 19. Additionally, we notice that groups of young people are sometimes present in an unpleasant manner. All of this affects the sense of safety of residents and visitors to the city center. 

The city center of Assen has previously been designated as a safety risk area, allowing the police to conduct preventive searches with permission from the Public Prosecution Service.

Bystanders reacted positively to the preventive searches. We will continue to conduct preventive searches at various times and places in the city center in the future. If you see something suspicious, always report it. Together, we ensure a safe city center.
