Joint approach to undermining crime
The investigation was carried out by the Crime Intervention Group (CIG). This team is part of the Leeuwarden basic team and focuses on tackling undermining crime. The Undermining Intervention Team of the municipality of Leeuwarden shared information with the police at the start of the investigation. The police ask citizens to report signs of undermining crime. This can also be done anonymously.

Drugs and production materials
Among other things, 662 pre-packaged packets of cocaine (so-called ponypacks) and approximately 40 kilograms of hashish were found in the property. These drugs were examined at the police station, also by the Leeuwarden municipal team. In addition to the narcotics, scales and cutting agents were found. Two large drug presses were also seized; these can be used to press drugs into compact blocks or tablets. The street value of the haul is estimated at several hundred thousand euros. All seized goods were confiscated by the police for further investigation. They will then be destroyed.

Investigation continues
One person was arrested. He is a 31-year-old man from Leeuwarden. He is suspected of manufacturing narcotics. The police are conducting further investigations into the origin of the seized substances and other possible suspects.

Report suspicious situations
To avoid compromising the ongoing investigation, the police do not share information about the nature of the received reports. The police ask people to be alert to signs of organized drug crime. Often it involves a combination of suspicious situations. For example, the curtains of a drug property often remain closed or are even taped over. Many items are needed for drug production, which are collected and delivered by unknown persons. It can also be suspicious when short visits are made by people at unusual times. These can be signs of drug trafficking, drug manufacturing, or other illegal activities.
