Bystanders reported fireworks being set off in Standdaarbuiten. Thanks to their alertness, the police were able to conduct a search at Van Liedekerkestraat in Standdaarbuiten. In this residence, no less than 80 kilograms of fireworks were found, spread throughout the house. The seized stock included Cobras and Shells, known for their dangerous explosive power.
 

170 kilograms of fireworks seized

Following an anonymous crime report, the police arrived at a house on Annendal in Zevenbergen. There, 60 kilograms of fireworks were seized, including Cobras. The fireworks were then transported with special transport.

At the other three searches in Zevenbergen, Sprundel, and Rucphen, smaller amounts of fireworks were found and seized. In total, 170 kilograms of fireworks were confiscated.
 

Suspects and follow-up

The residents of the houses where the larger quantities of fireworks were found will be summoned as suspects to the police station. They will also receive notifications from the municipality. Other suspects found in possession of fireworks will receive fines for illegal possession.


The police continue to combat fireworks nuisance and the dangers of illegal fireworks. A report is being drawn up and the investigation continues.
