Officers quickly arrived at the victims location, and after leaving to take a statement, they saw a suspicious car driving on Hart van Brabantlaan. They decided to stop the car because one of the occupants closely matched the description of the fake officer. Inside the car, they found a watch, which turned out to be stolen from the victim. The two occupants (aged 18 and 15 from Rotterdam) were arrested and taken to the station.

Further search of the car revealed a bank card that did not belong to the occupants. Investigation showed it was also stolen during a previous incident involving a fake officer.

The police are continuing their investigation, checking for more stolen goods and whether the men are involved in other fraud cases.

Reporting helps
If you receive a call from a suspicious number or do not fully trust the caller, hang up immediately! The police never come to your door to collect bank cards or jewelry, never! Always report if you have been called by someone asking for these items. This helps us gain insight into the methods and locations of these scammers. You can report via 0900-8844.

If you have been a victim of a fake officer and the incident just occurred, call 112. We may still be able to arrest the scammers. If you only notice later that items were taken or money withdrawn, report this at 0900-8844.
